These terms cover LumaOS, the Linux distribution, and its component applications — including luma-calendar and its optional Google Calendar, Microsoft/Outlook Calendar, and iCloud Calendar integrations. LumaOS is a personal, open-source project, not a company; there is no separate legal entity behind it. This page is a plain-language summary of how the project expects to be used, not a substitute for formal legal advice.
LumaOS and its components are free and open-source software, licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 (GPL-2.0). Source code for every component is available on GitLab. By using LumaOS or any of its components, you agree to the terms of that license.
The software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — consistent with Section 11 of the GPL-2.0. Use it at your own risk.
luma-calendar's Google Calendar, Microsoft/Outlook Calendar, and iCloud Calendar integrations are all optional — nothing about LumaOS requires you to link any account. If you do, you're granting luma-calendar permission to read and, since it supports two-way sync, create/edit/delete events on your behalf, strictly through that provider's own Calendar API/Graph API/CalDAV service and strictly on your own machine — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what's accessed and where it's stored. iCloud linking additionally requires you to generate and enter an Apple ID app-specific password yourself, rather than an OAuth consent screen — keeping that password safe, and revoking it if you no longer want luma-calendar to have it, is your responsibility. Your use of Google's, Microsoft's, or Apple's services remains subject to their own terms of service and privacy policy, which this project has no control over.
You can revoke luma-calendar's access at any time from Google's Third-party apps & services page, from Microsoft's Apps and services page, or, for iCloud, by deleting the app-specific password from appleid.apple.com.
Don't use LumaOS or luma-calendar's Google, Microsoft, or iCloud integration to violate Google's API Services User Data Policy, Microsoft's own API/Graph terms of use, or Apple's iCloud Terms and Conditions, to access accounts you don't own or have explicit permission to access, or for any unlawful purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the maintainer of LumaOS is not liable for any damages arising from the use, or inability to use, LumaOS or any of its components — including, without limitation, data loss (local calendar events or otherwise), missed reminders, or any Google, Microsoft, or Apple account issue caused by third-party service behavior outside this project's control.
These terms may be updated from time to time; changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date above. Continued use of LumaOS after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
